Dr Coceka Mfundisi is a Specialist Neurosurgeon at Busamed in Modderfontein. She also worked in this capacity at Chris Hani Baragwanath Hospital the 5th largest hospital in the southern hemisphere, with a specific interest in paediatric neurosurgey.
She graduated from the University of Cape Town (UCT) with a Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery. She completed training as a Specialist Neurosurgeon with the Colleges of Medicine of South Africa and became an Admitted Fellow of the College of Neurosurgeons of South Africa. She further holds a Master of Medicine in Neurosurgery from the University of Pretoria. Dr Mfundisi became the first woman to qualify as a neurosurgeon from the University of Pretoria in its more than 100 year history. She is the second black woman to be admitted as a fellow of the College of Neurosurgeons of South Africa.
She served as a member of RAF Appeal Tribunal at the HPCSA. She is also a member of the Golden Lions Rugby Club Medical Committee. She is currently a member of the Fifth Medical Committee of preliminary enquiry of the HPCSA.
